Hello again!
I've been playing through Azshara today when I stumbled upon this quest-line that takes you to Lake Mennar to gather relics as well as map out the terrain surround the lake. Once this is done you return to Malynea Skyreaver, a blood elf and she tell you to find the spirit of Kalytha. You need to find out what the secret described in the relics you gathered is all about. By using a ring of Kalytha you can enter her mind and see her memories.
This puts you in a flashback, set during the War of the Ancients. Apparantly, there was an academy near Lake Mennar and Kalytha was a student here, hoping to become a mage. However, the academy is under attack by demons of the Burning Legion and the guards are having a hard time defending it. You are able to run around Lake Mennar as Malytha as you find Archmage Selwyn.
Archmage Selwyn requests that Kalytha jumps into the lake to hide a stone that neither Queen Azshara or The Burning Legion must possess. After this secret is revealed, the flashback ends and you return to Malynea Skyreaver who requests that you go and find this stone.
This stone turns out to be the proof that the highborne acted against Azshara and her attempt to summon The Burning Legion and that without the creation of these stones, the world would have been lost.
Pretty exciting, huh? History rewritten..
